The META foundation was developed to provide August House with strategic programming that develops & supports the studio artists & their practice. The ethos of the organisation is of inclusion & diversity, focused on democratization. August House was established in 2006 with its notable tenants being artists such as Mary Sibanda, Dineo Bopape, Gabi Ngcobo, Nelson Makamo and Nicholas Hlobo.

The META foundation is a dynamic visual arts organisation that programmes for artists based at Johannesburg’s creative landmark building of August House studios. Within this context and as part of the broader visual art eco-system the META foundation works across three primary pillars which centre on collaborating with ARTISTS, instigating projects, exhibiting ARTWORKS, art practice focused workshops & art commissions, while inspiring diverse AUDIENCES & Collectors to meet artists who work across mediums.
